According to the findings of a retrospective analysis, the use of adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) after radical cystectomy is of benefit to patients with high-risk bladder cancer.
The authors note that there is evidence to suggest a survival advantage with AC following radical cystectomy; however limited conclusions can be drawn from this due to methodological issues and small sample sizes. Because of this the routine use of AC has not gained widespread acceptance. They decided to research this area further by conducting a multicentre observational study.
